Irony is great
I worked last night and after closing headed down to Melanka's Party bar for a few wind down drinks. It's part of Melanka Backpackers and stays open late and caters to the dance/club crowd. It reminds me of Louie's/Fubar back in Waterloo. That's enough for most people to understand the type of joint it is.
Anyways, I was on the dance floor with some nurses I'd met earlier at Bo's and realized that I was dancing to a 70's rock tune tune with a dance backbeat added. I can't recall who it was exactly but I think it was the Doobie Brothers or a similar type band. I can't explain it right now but it just felt ironic in a very raw, unrefined way. The fact that music used to represent the younger generation rebellion has dissipated to be replaced by dance remixes of songs previously enjoyed by parents and grandparents...
I'm too lazy to explore the topic more so do it yourself
