gotta love connections...

I forgot about this for a while but I wanted to write about it so here it is.

On the trip home last week I had an mp3 disc playing in my car. It was a bunch of albums that are solid enough to listen to every track and enjoy every single tune. Here was the list:

AC/DC - Back in Black
Craig Cardiff - Happy
Danny Michel - Tales from the Invisible Man
John Mayer - Room for Squares
Kenny Chesney - When the Sun Goes Down
Paul Macleod - Live Electrically
Mudmen - Self-titled
Mudmen - Overrated
Sam Roberts - We Were Born in a Flame
Trews - House of Ill Fame
Xavier Rudd - Live @ Horseshoe Tavern (bootleg)

That should give you a good idea of the type of music I listen to. What struck me (and thus worth writing about) was the fact that with the exception of Kenny Chesney, I had seen all the other bands/performers live....and come to think of it...multiple times for the majority of them. It got me thinking how many awesome shows I've seen and how easy it is to forget that.

I'll admit right now that the majority of my music is probably obtained illegally. The main reason is that I can't justify buying so many CD's that are mostly crap. As well, I'd prefer to catch bands at concerts where a better percentage of my money goes to the actual band as opposed to their label (if I'm totally full of shit here, let me know...didn't exactly research this). Most of these bands I saw live and then decided to buy their albums...all the more reason to check out up and comers when it's cheap to do so. Small shows are more intimate and a ton of fun.

There's not really much point to this post....I guess I'm saying take a chance and check out the local indie talent. You never know what'll happen. The first time I saw the Trews they were playing a warmup nooner at the Bomber....on a Tuesday. Think about it....hahahahaha
